Mwananchi's Far Cry

For all the few years I have lived, I am lucky to have lived under three presidential eras. The KANU era might have been the worst but in modern times I believe this is the hardest time for average Kenyans.

We might have advanced by making a few small steps but we are still in the dark ages. We might be having a mediocre SGR but what is really there to show for other successful strides we have made? Our economy is sinking very fast. In recent weeks I have witnessed gigantic prices of basic commodities I could never dream of. Are we heading in the right direction?

Can you believe that in the early days of our young nation after independence, a British Sterling Pound was exchanged for 20 Kenya Shillings? Right now the value of the pound is more than Ksh. 130. What went wrong? That is a story for another day.

I have met all sorts of memes making a light, not of the current situation of food security. To be honest, I don't think Kenyans are happy about it even if they are making fun. This should serve as a warning shot...
