Tax increment raises Sukuma wiki price

Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has increased tax rates.

The Ksh. 30 daily tax receipt has been raised to Ksh. 50.

Small scale business owners say that the tax increment is set to raise commodity prices.

A bunch of Sukuma wiki that was sold at

Ksh. 10 is going to be sold at Ksh. 20.

Now think of buying this sukuma wiki in bulk, if it would have cost you Ksh. 100 you are going to buy it at Ksh. 150 or more. The additional cost could probably be used to buy tomatoes and onions.

Mama mboga at Burma market, Nairobi, say that customers are complaining about the prices. But they have to pay tax.

When the Sukuma wiki is not bought it goes bad.

It's not only the price of sukuma wiki that was increased but also other vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, cabbages, and spinach.
